New Year!

Things have been going well in the Jennings household. We spent time with the family for Christmas. Mom and Larry were in town for almost 1 week. Then New Years with friends and Dad & Pennye. We were all sick at the the end of the year. Bronchitis all the way around. Shelby was at the docs twice. We had Scotty in the ER Christmas morning cause the bronchitis had his asthma acting up. I was at the docs once and the urgent care once. We are all feeling much better now.

Shelby has been continuing her physical therapy. She goes to therapy every 2 weeks and a therapist with First Steps has been coming to the house once a week. She is wanting to walk everywhere! She will either hold your hands or push her little stroller she got for Christmas. She even walked about 100 feet in the mall yesterday holding one of my hands and one of Tara's hands. Today she stood on her own for about 25 seconds and took 4 steps on her own without holding anything. She has a follow up appointment with the neurosurgeon on Jan. 14 and as of right now, we have tons of great news to share with him!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch with the Talley's yesterday. We put Shelby in her ladybug costume and took her for a ride in her wagon. She had fun playing with the pumpkins. She played with Sean, drove a tractor, and saw a few animals (a pig, a horse, and some chickens and a duck.)

I think this might become a yearly tradition. We have gone together 2 years in a row. The kids have really changed over the last year though!

Messy girl!

Our world as we know it revolves around Shelby, of course that's how it should be. She has become quite independent these days. These are some pics of her aftering feeding herself her favorite--spaghetti!! She enjoyed the activity as much as the meal! And had a good time in the bath afterward too!

Today we took Shelbs to meet the physical therapist. The first words out of the therapist's mouth were "oh, she's a scooter." She said that Shelby is very strong willed and that she is focused. Her mind is set that she is moving the way she wants to and that's all that matters. Where she got that bullheadedness, I'll never know! She also said that she is probably a little afraid of moving in different ways. So we learned some new excerises/movements to get Shelby in the direction of pulling herself up. We also learned some simple stretching exercises for her heels that should be more entertaining and distracting than just us stretching her heels. When we got home today, Shelby and I worked a little bit on getting herself up from a lying, just after diaper changes, and it seems to be going well. She is more receptive when it's just us and not a stranger. I am excited and ready to do what it takes to help her out!!!

Catching up!

Looking over the last month, since I blogged, we have suprisingly been a very busy family. It doesn't seem like it on a day-to-day basis, but over all Whoa! I got off work on Mother's Day and was able to spend the day with the family! Then, Shelby and I travelled to Arkansas to visit Mom and Larry. The next week, she had her 15 month check up. She was 28 lbs and 8oz and 31.5 inches long. She is right on track, developmentally, except for the not walking/crawling. We are supposed to follow-up with the orthopedic doc at the end of this month. Shelby's pediatrician would like to enroll her in some physical therapy then if she is not moving more. Since her check up though, she has learned to scoot acrossed the floor. She can move all over the living room without ever getting off of her butt. It is a pretty funny site.

We also went on an overnite camping trip to practice for the big trip to the Smoky Mountains later this month. We went with the Talleys and the Binnings. We had a lot of fun. Learned that we probably need a bigger tent and need to start packing now to make sure we don't forget anything! (We don't leave until June 28)

In between any major adventures, we have just been spending time with friends and family. This week, Jen and Eli came over for a play date. The kids seemed to have a good time and Jen and I enjoyed the visit away from work. Today, Shelby and I met up with Susan and Sean at the park. It was gorgeous outside. Shelby had fun sliding and swinging.

I plan on keeping up the blog cause this month holds a trip to Michigan for my cousin's wedding and our trip to the smokey mountains! Yeah!

Fun Day Off!

I was supposed to work on Sat., as usual, but they called to see if I wanted to stay home because we were over staffed. Silly question! The answer was yes of course. Scotty, Shelby, and I spent the day running around, playing, just spending time together. That evening, we invited friends over for a BBQ. Shelby loved the company, but was particularly interested in baby Allie. She wasn't so sure about her though when Jen put Allie in her lap!

MILESTONE: Last week, Shelby acutally rolled over from her back to her belly (1st time). She is so stubborn and does not particularly care to lay on her stomach. She actually fell back asleep though and took a nice little nap!

Easter 2009 and Goofing around.

I had to work on Sun., so I dropped Shelby off at John and Sharon's on my way. Scotty met up with the 3 of them for church. They did stop by and see me at work on their way to Scotty's aunt and uncles house. So I did get to see her all dressed up. We both wanted to see her with her basket, so she didn't get it until Tues. morn.

Scotty was off on Mon., so the 3 of us ran around and spent some time together. It was very nice. Scotty was being funny and put Shelby up on his shouders. She thought it was hilarious!!

Sleeping update!

I feel like I can share some news and hopefully without jinxing myself. Shelby has done really well this week. After a rough weekend of waking up just about every hour and Shelby ending up in bed with us I decided enough was enough. I felt I was ready for a little tough love and instead of having to start over in a couple of months, I took the plunge and put Shelby to bed unswaddled! She had a crying spell on Sun. night and I held out for 40 min and she fell back asleep and did not wake up again. The exact same happened on Mon. night (just at 3 am). Tues. and Wed. went off with barely a hitch. Both of the last 2 nights, she did let out a cry/noise, but found her paci and went back to sleep. She has even taken naps this week, almost everyday, without difficulty. My baby girl is growing up!!! I definitely have enjoyed the sleep though!
