Shelby's Birthday Party

So, a lot has gone on since I last blogged. Shelby's first Christmas came and went. We had a good time, but she wasn't exactly sure what was going on. Next, she got her first tooth on Dec. 29 (only one so far-the others are working their way out). She has had 2 ear infections (or 1 persistent one). And SHELBY TURNED 1!!!. Since her birthday fell on a Tues. this year, we had her party last Sat. the 7th. Here are some fun pics!! She got lots of gifts and seemed to know what to do with the presents (at least a little more so than at Christmas). I made her a cupcake cake in the shape of a butterfly. I even frosted it myself!! She seemed to enjoy herself, but wasn't always sure what the fuss was about. Then came her turn to eat her cake. That she enjoyed very much!! She even ate some ice cream. I gave her a couple of bites with the spoon, then she took over with her hands. It wasn't too big of a mess though.

10 months and going strong!

Shelby is 10 months today and I can hardly believe it. Time flies when you are having fun. The last couple weeks have been busy. For Thanksgiving, we went to Scotty's brother's house. It was nice to spend the day with family and not have to work. Scotty got up early and went shopping on Black Friday. He got some really good deals! I got called off from work for the first 8 hours of my shift, so that meant more time with the fam!! This last weekend, my mom and Larry came to town for a visit. I was off on Fri., but had to work the rest of the weekend. I did get to spend some time with them, but I am really glad they came. I think Scotty is especially glad because Shelby had a bad cold and my mom was here to help. He sat up most of the night on Sat. night, in the recliner, with Shelby. That was the only way she could sleep because her congestion was so bad, but he could only nap 20 min at a time. We all made it through and she is feeling better. Earlier last week, Susan and Sam watched Shelby for me while I worked and they took some great pics of Shelby getting into the holiday spirit. She likes our Christmas tree we put up, but isn't extremely impressed with it. I thought that she might be a little more excited about the lights. We are going to go see Santa today though. Hopefully, that will go well.

Shelby 9 Months!!

We took Shelby for her 9 month check up yesterday! She weighs 23 1/2 lbs and is 28 inches long. Her weight is still over the 95th percentile (out of 100 kids her age, she weighs more than 95), but her height is now in the 50-75th percentile. She was only in the 25-50 percentile before. She is doing great. She only had to get 1 shot and that was her flu vaccine (it's the time of year). Here are some pics of her last week. She acted like she was posing for a photo shoot. What a ham! She loves to just sit and play with her toys. She actually got sad when I put the camera down. I thought that she was a little young to be such a camera hog, but I guess not.

October in the fast lane!

I know I have been a terrible blogger, so here is a super long blog about on crazy busy October:
In the middle of the month, my grandmother passed away. Scotty, Jay, Shelby and I all piled into my little Malibu and headed for Cabot, AR (just outside of Little Rock.) Even though the loss of my grandmother is very sad, some of my family down there had not met Shelby yet, so that made the visit a little more pleasant. One day when we were down there, some friends of my brother and sister-in-law had a pumpkin picking night at there farm. My nephews, niece, and Shelby were all dressed the part in their Halloween outfits. We hopped on the hay-ride and picked out our pumpkins. All of the kids had a blast. Shelby seemed to have a good time, even though she didn't quite know what was going on! We got some great pics too.
The next week, Scotty, Shelby and I went to Rombach's Farm with Susan, Sam, Sean, Heather, Noah, Jen and Hayley. Shelby was getting into the pumpkins now. We got some great pics of the 3 of us, along with pics of all of the kids. Later in the week, Shelby and I went to visit my friend Jen, who was on her 2nd to last week of maternity leave. Time goes by so fast. Elijah is almost 3 months old now. I actually worked with her today, on her first day back. It seems like forever since I went back to work. I am such a glutton for punishment, that I picked up an extra shift this week!! Ahh!!

The next week, Jay, Shelby and I headed to Rogers, AR to visit my mom and Larry. We decided that it was a good way for Jay to spend his last week off of work from his short term disability for his herniated disc. We had a good time. As well as time with the parents, Jay spent some time with his friends and I went and spent one afternoon with Jodie and Kaylin. We had a nice visit.

Then came Halloween. I had to work for 12 hours that day. We were over staffed at work that day, so I was really hoping to get the day off, or atleast go home early... didn't happen. Scotty and Shelby went trick-or-treating with the Talley family. Sean was a puppy and Shelby was a tiger. I met up with them at Sam and Susan's after I got off work. I think Shelby really liked her costume. She wore it, with the hood on, until I put her to bed. Crazy girl!!
Looking back now, I can't believe how much has gone on this month. We have been super busy between work, traveling, and day-to-day stuff. I had planned on blogging many times before, but never did. I hope this wasn't too long and boring. Atleast maybe some of the pics are entertaining.

Getting older!!

Well, I haven't blogged for a while because it's been crazy busy and I'm a slacker. I guess that's what it was turning 30 does to you. Scotty still has another year before he's over the hill.

We had our annual birthday celebration and it went well. I know that I had a lot of fun (I think everyone else did too). Labor day weekend was busy too. With Mom, Larry, Aunt Yvonne, and Uncle Barry in town, it was run, run, run. I had to work the whole weekend, but got to spend time with everyone in the evenings. Shelby and I enjoyed having Mom and Larry in town for a couple of extra days also. Scotty and I are still trying to squeeze in some time together between our 2 very different schedules. We do manage to have an evening together every once in a while. Here are some fun pictures. I can't belive that Shelby is 7 months today. They do grow too fast!!!!

Here is a picture of Milo trying to get Shelby to scratch his ears. I think he just saw a pair of dangling feet and thought they might be up for scratching. I guess maybe the two of them might be friends afterall.

Shelby is styling here in Tara's sunglasses and here is a picture of her new trick. She holds her paci and still continues to talk. And her hands are free to do whatever else. She is a true girly girl too. She squeals and screeches and super loud too!!

More pics and stories to come soon!!!!

Shelby girl updates!!

Not a lot is going on the Jennings' household. Last week, Shelby and I went to Arkansas for a visit. We went over to Jodie's house and Shelby took a 3 hour nap on her tummy. This was highly unusual for the child who hates to lie on her stomach. She was too cute though. Shelby also got this new flower passie clip to help hang on to it. She has recently discovered how to take her passie out of her mouth. She investigates it closely and sometimes chews on the edges, but of course has not figured out how to put it back in her mouth the right way.

Shelby has been moving right along and eating up her vegetables. Green peas are her favorite, followed closely by squash, and carrots are her least favorite so far. Those are the 3 she has tried for now. She is too funny when she eats though, because she tries to chew on her bib and ends up wiping her face off. She made a pretty big mess tonight with her carrots, but then wiped them off of her face herself.
